Wow, it has been forever since my last post. During my absence, we've had our driveway poured and our final grade done. The exterior painting was completed (except for our front door - would like to have that repainted but who knows if that'll actually happen now), so that pretty much completes everything that needed to be done by RH before June 30th.
On the inside, we have finished the media room (for now, until we get a new tv in the not-too-distant future, hopefully in time for the World Cup) and the two spare bedrooms. Our master and the living room are almost completely done. My craft room and the first floor office are still ridiculous messes that I'm trying not to think about. Still nothing on the walls, either! Oh yeah, and no dining room set yet. We went down to Amish country a few weekends ago and ordered one - now begins the long 8-10 week wait for it to arrive. This is high stress, too, since we "built" it ourselves from pieces all around the store (that's what they tell you to do, but sometimes it's hard for me to imagine it all together), and we totally changed some stuff to the china hutch. Please oh please let it turn out great.
We have someone coming out this week from a local landscaping company to give us a quote for putting in a lawn, landscaping/flower beds, a patio, and a deck. I can only imagine what that number will come back as! We may do things in stages, but we've had such nice weather recently that I seriously want a patio and deck, like, yesterday. I know there will be other summers, but I'm all about instant gratification. Besides, I feel really exposed sitting in lawnchairs in the driveway.
Anyway, on to some photos. I'll have to take some more pics of the media room and living room and post those soon. Mostly, these pics will be of the bedrooms since those are the rooms that are essentially done, save for some wall and dresser decor items. Still pretty "hung up" on hanging pictures - honestly don't know what my problem is! And as far as curtains go, yeah, still stuck on that too. But, now we have blinds in the bedrooms, so that helps a lot (takes the pressure off!).

Master sitting area
(ignore the litterbox - I think we're gonna buy one of those tables to hide it in.) |

Master bed
(I like tall mattresses, but I had no idea we would lose so much of the headboard! Oh well.) |

Awesome tree-branch lamp - from Wayfair.com
(Every time I see this, I say "I love lamp" in my head ala Brick from Anchorman.) |

Nevermind the boxes - they may stay there forever. |

It was a steal and looks great! |

Looks nice!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great!! Where did you get your blinds? I love the decorative molding on them!!
ReplyDeleteI got the blinds at Lowe's - they're Bali faux wood in coconut color. They have two different molding types, but the husband thought the other style was too simple so he liked this one better. I'm not sure what this style was called. They really look great, and have helped significantly with my curtain anxiety!
DeleteSo you definitely have awesome decorating sense and style!! But on top of that every time you post pictures I think your home looks so warm, cozy, and just awesome! I didn't realize until you just posted on my blog that you got the paint package and that's what it is!! It just makes everything look so much more complete. Throw is some great taste and style and you have yourself a beautiful home!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think it's all the paint package - love that Pavilion Beige. So now just imagine what you get to look forward to! Once they install and paint the trim, finish the ceilings, and get your flooring in there it's amazing how that paint just cozies it all up. Definitely one of the best upgrades we did.

ReplyDeleteI've been searching for a master bedroom set and love yours. Did you piece that together or get it as a set? If so, where? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWe bought it as a set from a local furniture store called Wayside Furniture. They have these "custom" sets that you can change stain, hardware, and some other features (like, platform vs storage bed vs regular frame) and are Amish-built. If you're anywhere near Amish country, it's worthwhile to check out what they have - the builders can usually customize anything with stain, wood type, or even style. I've also heard of some Amish builders re-creating sets you find in other furniture stores like Pottery Barn. It's worth a shot. We got our dining room set from an Amish builder, and we were able to customize the hutch (hasn't arrived yet, pictures will follow soon after!).
DeleteIs it expensive since it is custom?
DeleteI think it depends somewhat on what you do or how you change the set. It's all hardwood, no veneers at all, so that's something to think about. It's heavy as anything and certain to last a lifetime. Plus, all the drawers are soft-close, and there's a felt-lined "secret" jewelry drawer contained within the center drawer of the dresser. We spent a pretty decent amount on it, but it was the one set that we both really loved and we plan on keeping it forever. I didn't price out the other sets (they also had a Louis Phillipe style sleigh bed that was way more expensive than the nice set we got for the spare), and we did choose the largest nightstands and dresser (they had two different sizes for those items, as well as two different mirrors and bureaus), so I'm sure that added to the cost.
